Welcome to this website

This site has been created to meet the assessment criteria for a Medical Anthropology module undertaken as part of BA Anthropology studies at University of Wales Trinity Saint David. The site has been designed as a repository for information, and feedback, regarding a medical anthropological approach to traditional hydrotherapeutic practices. These practices, also known as hydropathy or medical hydrology, include contemporary spa treatments, balneotherapy and climatotherapy. Hydrotherapy has been recognised as one of the oldest Traditional Medicines (FEMTEC, 2015). The pioneering work of Dr Batmanghelidg, reinforced by a recent report (2015) conducted by the World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy (FEMTEC) in conjunction with the World Health Organisation (WHO), suggests hydration and traditional water cure practices offer a safe, efficacious, means of restoring and maintaining good health. The purpose of this assignment is to evalutate this hydrotherapeutic approach to health through theoretical stances within the discipline of Medical Anthropology. Additional information regarding the metaphysical properties of water and exciting developments within the field of Quantum Biology have been included for interest purposes. Water is fascinating stuff! Simply hover over bold text to detect and access embedded articles. Your comments would be much appreciated. Feedback will be used as part of a class presentation.
