The European Historical Thermal Towns Association (EHTTA) have created a Cultural Route through Europe based on places that have retained their distinctive spa architecture and hydrotherapeutic practices. Twenty-six towns, including Bath in the UK, form part of this initiative to preserve and promote their cultural heritage through the tourist industry.
The European Thermal Towns Route is 'recognized by the Council of Europe, and has the same status as the famous St James’ Way to Santiago de Compostela' (EHTTA, 2015: 5). See the EHTTA brochure for further information as well as stunning photographs of these towns and their spa architecture.
